• ‘‘…performance was outstanding indeed. Wonderful phrasing, great clarity, delicate in some places and powerful in others, just beautiful.’’

    - Alejandro Viñao

  • ‘‘Jessie is a consummate artist- someone who really interprets a piece and finds unique paths to bring it to life in highly personal ways.  Her technique, artistry, and curiosity are quickly making her a force to be reckoned with in the percussion world and beyond.’’

    -Christopher Theofanidis

  • “Her virtuosity shined through all the beautifully executed details but I was even more impressed with her artistry in shaping the arc of the piece like a master story teller.”

    – Steven Mackey

Recognized very young as a prodigious talent, Jessie Chiang first made her mark by winning the Taiwan National Marimba Competition. She later went on to the United States to continue her studies with the internationally recognized pedagogue, Robert van Sice, at the Yale School of Music as well as the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University.

Along with her numerous solo concerts, she is an accomplished chamber musician. She has performed throughout the United States with The Percussion Collective alongside some of today's biggest names in percussion. Her young career has included touring internationally with the Yale Percussion Group in China and Spain. Her artistry is at once insightful, exciting, and probing, coupled with an expressive stage presence that makes her one of the most important new marimba voices.
